There has been high interest in the government-backed FirstBuy scheme and Mount Wise has a number of properties available through the initiative.

15 homes in the development’s first phase have been allocated to offer the equity loan scheme across a mix of one, two and three bedroom houses and apartments.

FirstBuy is an equity loan scheme which will see the government and the developer (Mount Wise) provide purchasers with a loan of up to 20% of the price of a new home. Purchasers will therefore only be required to put forward a 5% deposit to own 100% of a new property.*

Mount Wise is one of Plymouth’s most popular developments offering a village ideal in a waterside setting, just minutes from the city centre.

FirstBuy

A £250 million scheme to help first-time buyers who want to buy a new-build property but can’t afford the high deposits has been launched.

Under the FirstBuy scheme, the government and the housebuilders will jointly provide a 20 per cent loan to top up first-time buyers’ own deposit of 5 per cent. This will allow them to take out a mortgage for 75 per cent of the property.

Loans will be free of charge for the first five years and repaid when the property is resold. The funds will then be recycled to fund more homes for the scheme.

The First Buy scheme should help 10,000 families to get onto the housing ladder for the first time, with the first homes expected to be available from September 2011.

Admiralty House becomes Number 10!

This Friday evening (14^th October) more than one million people are expected to see Grade II listed Admiralty House, Mount Wise, on their television screens – although they may not recognise it as one of Plymouth’s most historic buildings…

Some of the UK’s top comedic actors and actresses, with an entourage of make up artists and camera crews, took over Admiralty House in June and transformed it into iconic 10 Downing Street.

The stairwell was decorated with pictures of previous Prime Ministers and the drawing room set up to create a formal office, all for the filming of Channel 4′s 50s style ‘fugitive’ film noir spoof – The Hunt for Tony Blair.

The Comic Strip team reformed for this one off 60 minute film, which boasts a host of stars including: Robbie Coltrane; Nigel Planer; Jennifer Saunders; Harry Enfield; Rik Mayall; Stephen Mangan; Morgana Robinson and John Sessions.

Prime Minister Tony Blair (Stephen Mangan) is wanted for murder and on the run. He escapes from Number 10 and vows to clear his name no matter what the consequences.

Hot on his tail is Inspector Hutton (Robbie Coltrane), with his sidekick (James Buckley). The chase unfolds thanks to evidence gleaned from his ‘allies’ Mandelson (Nigel Planer) and Brown (Ford Kiernan), as well as an unlikely encounter with Margaret Thatcher (Jennifer Saunders).

Alistair Campbell is played by Harry Enfield and Rik Mayall is Professor Predictor.

TMS Group Appointed to Manage ‘Village by the Sea’

TMS Group, a Devon based property management specialist, has been appointed as managing agent for Plymouth’s new ‘Village by the Sea’, Mount Wise.

The day-to-day management of the residential properties on this mixed-use development will be overseen by TMS Group, with experienced professional Dan Norris designated as the site’s own property manager.

Working in partnership with the developer, TMS has been contracted to manage the 159 homes situated in the first phase, with a view to extending this across the entire development, comprising 469 homes. With the southern quadrant of the initial phase already complete, first occupations are expected from mid-October.

Throughout this contract TMS will be working closely with the developer’s legal and sales teams, the local authority and Sovereign Housing Association, the main social housing landlord.

Potential home-buyers at Mount Wise are being offered early access to a new two bedroom house at Mount Wise from Saturday 25^th June.

The opening of the first show apartment last month led to three apartment reservations and a high number of visitors requested details of the two bedroom houses at Mount Wise. With demand apparent, and only five two bedroom houses available in the first release, the development team is opening up a house earlier than anticipated.

Although the home itself is complete, visitors will be provided with hard hats and boots while outside works continue, adding to the excitement of the viewing.
