Location
Away from it all. Close to everything.
Mount Wise is located in one of the most enviable locations in the UK. Stand on the majestic lawn to the front of Admiralty House and in front of you is one of the country’s finest views.
To the east you’ll see the city of Plymouth with its wealth of shops, restaurants and transport links to the rest of the UK and beyond.
Meanwhile, straight in front you’ll see the magnificent Royal William Victualling Yard. Built in the early 1800s, the Yard was a major depot of the Royal Navy and included a bakery, brewery, cooperage and residences. Today it is a Grade II listed development with galleries, offices, bars and restaurants. It is also possible to catch a ferry for the short trip to the Barbican.
Across the water is Mount Edgcumbe, which is accessible via the Cremyll Ferry on a route that dates back to the 11th century. Just a ten minute trip and you land on the coast of Cornwall and free to enjoy the wonderful parkland, walks and beaches that surround Mount Edgcumbe. Why not have a quick drink in the Edgcumbe Arms before heading back?
Finally, to the west of Mount Wise is the River Tamar, which circles its way through the countryside and separates the counties of Devon and Cornwall. The Tamar is alive with yachts, motor boats and the odd Naval ship heading back to Devonport docks. Beyond this is the Tamar Bridge, the rail and road link to Cornwall.
A truly enviable location. The peace and tranquility of a village, yet only minutes from the hubbub of Plymouth city centre.
